Humax are working with Freesat to have these issues resolved” I bought my Foxsat HDR in Sept and am still waiting at the end of Foxxsat for them to resolve the problem. Having grown tired of paying Sky for tv channels I mostly wasn’t watching, but not wanting our hd-ready tv to go to waste or to lose the hu,ax to record programmes and watch them whenever we like, this Foxsat box seemed the logical step to take. You can still see all customer reviews for the product.

As a short term things I can redo the manual tune I guess and hunt for the channels we care about.

The up to speed search facility BBC and ITV HD – excellent pictures SD pictures to my eyes anyway seem better than those we experienced with our Sky box The on-screen display when changing channels tells flxsat how far into the programme you are along with its start and end times – such an obvious feature, so brilliant to have it!

This makes it a lot easier to find individual programmes. By continuing to browse the site, you give consent for cookies to be used. Against Needs more HD channels Slow to boot up. No guarantee regarding accuracy of information contained in this PVR review is provided. Channel 4HD is rumoured to be joining foxswt Freesat 320bg sometime during A further annoyance, the standby display.

The next day I ordered my Humax, cancelled my sky and i never been happier!!. The system works almost flawlessly and can deliver top-quality broadcast images and sound. If everything is working a non-freesat tune after deleting all existing should give you over humaax found on KingofSat.

Freesat is subscription-free and it gives you an ever-growing selection of TV channels and radio stations including the BBC and exclusively, ITV, in high-definition. It is a very well presented and polished piece of equipment and sits well with our plasma Tv and surround sound set up. This can be frustrating if you’re in a hurry to start recording! So in summary less is definitely more. There’s a problem loading this menu at the moment.

Feels like the problem is narrowing down though the cost might be going up if the cables are knackered!

Most have a “noise figure” of under 0. Register Already have an account? I understand it won’t let you do this with HD programmes but I’ve not tried yet. Limited Functionality Available from the USB Interface – Whilst the Humax User Manual says that you can copy ‘to and from’ mnaual external memory stick or HDD using the front or rear panel USB interface, the functionality is in fact pretty much one way – in that you can copy media files to the device including JPEG images and MP3 music filesbut all attempts at archiving recording files from the Humax HDR to the external device have failed miserably.

This is the freesat home transponder without it you can’t validate the postcode.

Moreover, the remote is overly lengthy, with the numerical buttons placed out of the way at the top and the Schedule button to the bottom. Also, if the PVR is recording, you can sometimes only view what its recording, not a different channel. If you would like to change channels on the box from another room you will need to buy an suitable alternative product to Sky’s magic eye like a Marmitek PowerMid XL infrared extender set.

Its broadcast bit-rate is often much lower than the BBC’s and it frankly looks dire in standard-definition on Freesat. Sometimes a message appears that there is a program conflict which prevents recording the two programs. System Slow to Respond to Handset Commands – Another irritation is the noticeable delay in getting the Foxsat HDR to respond promptly to handset commands without an annoying one second delay, particularly when scrolling through the EPG, renaming recordings or programming a timer recording.

Two set top box modes are supported in the Humax Foxsat HDR – these being “Freesat” and ” Non-Freesat “, the latter allowing you to add additional free to air channels not in the official Freesat channel list – like Sky News. Nothing has changed as far as the dish and the cables go afaik. Any of them should work fine. You can stop recording programmes once they have started without deleting the whole programme, for example. Recording padding – Ability to automatically add a few minutes of padding to the beginning and end times of recordings to avoid missing parts of the programme.

One thing I did notice is that when the Factory Fosxat finished and failed to find any signal the wizard reported a single cable connection. The box also seem to have some intelligence. Despite its minor short falls like the remotes design, it is much better than my Sky HD box.

Modern LNBs are excellent. Anyway, any help gratefully received – lose of TV is a bit distressing!

Everywhere else the cables seem fine, can’t find any sign of damage or corrosion. Don’t turn the box off overnight at the mains if there are recordings scheduled the next day. I don’t know why the product description says ‘Installation Recommended’.
