I like to field a thrower even on defense, so I can have a player with a decent chance of picking up a knocked-lose ball roc a tackle zone, but with wanting to protect him, he’s back from the center – a perfect place for a kicker anyway! If I covered advancing a cage, preventing a cage, stalling a cage and how to deal with everything that flows from those subjects this would get rather long. Depending on what TV team you are playing, other bashy teams are easier to deal with.

The other way is a player with Stunty who ignores the tacklezones due to being small, though they will be low strength so less of a threat for the actual hit. However, some Orc coaches will ask, where does this Kicker go? On Doubles, Block is the way to go. Against other heavy bashers though, the Troll’s ability to soak damage and tie up players is very useful even if it is not essential.
There are a lot of nuances to cage defence and indeed offence that can be hard to just explain in text or by telling someone. It combines nicely with Stand Firm and – although most opponents will have plenty of Tackle to deal with this rare dodger – the problem against an Orc team can often be getting that Tackle to the right place at the right time.

Orcs don’t have many, possibly the biggest one is the difficulty in developing the Black Orcs, as they rarely score and cause only the odd casualty. Orc Throwers get the same two skills for 20K, but lose a point of AV! Time and again those Throwers will fail something, and the other team will bypass all the heavies, mug the Boal and score.
